The Inertia of Satisfaction
Often, change is driven by discomfort—a desire to move away from something that no longer serves us. But when things are going well, the urgency to evolve diminishes. My client enjoyed her work, found fulfillment in her role, and wasn’t facing any pressing dissatisfaction. Yet, something led her to this session. There was a quiet pull, an unspoken curiosity about what could be next. She had already taken the first step—seeking coaching—indicating that a part of her wanted something more. But without a clear vision, the path forward remained murky. Finding the Vision We explored different techniques to help her uncover what she truly wanted. First, I invited her to step into her future self—two years ahead—imagining she had already made a change. But this approach didn’t fully resonate. Then, I asked her the magic button question: If you could push a button and wake up tomorrow with everything exactly as you wanted, what would that look like? This unlocked something. Ideas started to emerge, but there was still some hesitation. Defining What Matters After several attempts, three key themes surfaced—each one lighting up something inside her:
Turning Thoughts into Action With newfound clarity, I asked her, What will you do to make this a reality? Without hesitation, she answered: I need a plan. That’s how I work. And that was her aha moment. Sometimes, clarity doesn’t come from deep introspection alone—it comes from saying things out loud. Thoughts that linger in the background, swirling in vague uncertainty, gain power when spoken. Once named, they become tangible. And once tangible, action naturally follows. In just 25 minutes, she went from feeling directionless to having a plan. Before the session, she didn’t know what she wanted. By the end, she had a clear direction and a next step. The Power of Coaching This session was a perfect example of how coaching creates breakthroughs. It doesn’t always take long. Sometimes, all it takes is the right question at the right time to bring clarity, spark motivation, and set meaningful change in motion. How about you? Do you need to find a direction? Book a session with me today and start find you Aha-moment.
